Two-strokes

Hi all--

This has nothing to do with Savages, but everything to do with motorcycles.

Today the weather was to crappy to ride, so I had to break down and do some yard work. Cut the grass (2-stroke mower), trim the weeds (2-stroke weedeater), edge the drive and sidewalk (2-stroke edger). You can see where I'm going.

Thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency, there are no longer any 2-stroke bikes being sold here in the US. And I think that's a shame. When one of my 2-stroke machines quits working, I replace the spark plug, and then it's just like new. Magic. No oil changes, no anything.

I have some very fond memories of 2-stroke bikes from my adolesence (I remember them as well as my first serious girlfriend). Like the time I watched a guy on a Suzuki GT500 Titan light up the tire and show the guy in the V8 Ford Mustang the correct way to get to the other side of the intersection first.

When I got my '77 Honda CB400F, the Yamaha RD400 was also way up on my short list. I think at the time, I thought more cylinders were mor important. Little did I know I would be MOST happy with a thumper years later.

The smaller 250 and 350 Kawasaki triples were also some bikes I found fascinating.

Anyway, just random musings from a guy who just likes bikes...

Ride far, ride safe.
